Housing Hope
Built Green 4-Star Single-Family Home

Monroe, WA

Housing Hope

In Rose Park there is a cul-de-sac of 10 modest-sized homes in Snohomish up the hill from the Evergreen State Fairgrounds. It looks like a typical development, but it isn’t. These houses were built by the homeowners themselves, under the guidance of one professional supervisor and a few key subcontractors. The homes at Rose Park were built through the Team Home Building program of Housing Hope; a nonprofit that’s helped nearly 300 Snohomish County families build their own homes since 1992.

Madison Park Built Green 4-Star
Single-Family Home

Seattle, WA

First Lamp LLC

The Madison Park House is the latest custom-spec house to be designed and built by First Lamp LLC. The firm’s partners, Taylor Callaway and Kevin Witt, both AIA and LEED APs, view themselves as “architects that build.” For this project, Callaway and Witt faced an existing steeply sloped lot, which inspired them to view the house as growing out of the hillside, with the main living space floating out amongst the trees.

Ninebark Design Build

Of the nearly 15,000 homes certified by the Built Green program, only a handful have been 5-star remodels. It’s not easy to take any existing home, much less a 1938 Tudor, and bring it up to the top standards of green building, including energy performance 30-percent more efficient than code.

First Lamp, LLC

“As an Architecture and Construction firm doing our first Built Green and Energy Star project, we found Green Dog very helpful in guiding us through the certification process. Not only did they understand the requirements, but also what green elements made sense for our project and how they would be most easily implemented in the field. Pam and her staff were great to work with and we would highly recommend them to other Architects, builders and owners.” Taylor Callaway, President (See more …)

“The team at Green Dog did an excellent job as the verifiers for our Built Green projects. They are extremely knowledgeable about the requirements as well as a great resource for providing updates on the latest developments and products in the green building field. One of the projects we worked with them on won both local, state and national level awards and recognition. We look forward to working with them on future projects!” Kristin Sakai, Vice President

Natural Balance House

“Reflecting on our participation with the Natural Balance House, let me say thanks for the great representation and marketing your company offered throughout this process. In the game of securing vendors for a feature project, it is quite common to be offered “fantastic marketing opportunities” for one’s sponsored participation. The Bruels’ project was special, and we wanted to be part of it, so we agreed to sponsor.

We were pleasantly surprised! We soon learned that Green Dog actually performed beyond their promises, helping with marketing opportunities throughout construction, then hosting a presentation by the Bruels’ at a great venue (Ambiente in Bellevue), and finally coordinating several weekend open house events after completion of the project.

We felt our sponsorship was rewarded with a great opportunity and excellent service by Green Dog, and we wanted to say thanks! We were glad to have participated, and would do it again!”
